Fishing
Northern Montana and the Idaho panhandle are considered by many to have the best trout fishing in the world. Local Montanans have reeled in some record-shattering fish here in the past.
This is where we recommend you go fishing!
Waterfalls
Traveling northwest from Yellowstone and west of Glacier National Park is the wild and
clear Kootenai River, home to one the largest free flowing waterfalls in the state. The surrounding area
is teaming with waterfalls, many of which are easily accessible with a short walk or gentle hike.
Wildlife
Montana is home to an impressive amount of wildlife. From the deck of the Eagles’ Nest Bed and
Breakfast, you can see plentiful whitetail deer, eagles, osprey, and wild turkeys. The river is a key
gathering point, and otters, geese, beaver and kingfishers are always plentiful. More shy but still present
are elk, black bear, mountain lion, grizzly (brown bear) and moose. The vast wilderness in the Yaak and
Kootenai National Forest provide plentiful wildlife viewing opportunities.
Outdoor Sports
Whether you like kayaking in the summer, skiing in the winter, or a blend of both, there are many activities for you to enjoy here in Kootenai National Forest!
